THE FRAGRANCE

Bahr Blue opens with fresh melon — clean, juicy, instantly refreshing. Not sweet-synthetic like a body spray melon. Genuinely crisp and aquatic, the way fruit smells when it is perfectly ripe. Before the melon fades, ylang ylang arrives.

Ylang ylang is one of the great floral ingredients in global perfumery — used in Chanel No. 5, beloved in Arabian fragrance houses for its rich, creamy-floral sweetness. In Bahr Blue, the melon keeps it light. The woody amber grounds it. The result is ylang ylang at its most wearable: exotic without being heavy, floral without being feminine.

The base is tonka bean. This is a perfumer’s ingredient — warm, vanilla-like, slightly almond, extraordinarily long-lasting. It is what gives Bahr Blue a creamy depth that no competitor in the Indian musk attar market at this price point achieves. Tonka bean anchors the ylang ylang and amber for 8 to 12 hours. The dry-down smells expensive.

This is the most unisex of the four attars — as suited to a man in a boardroom as a woman at an evening event.
